Siri Kollandsrud’s residency at the Danish Academy in Rome

We are excited to share the latest news from Norwegian-Danish artist Siri Kollandsrud —who has been awarded a residency at the Danish Academy in Rome! During her time there, the artist is exploring new creative avenues, painting on both found cardboard boxes and traditional canvases. 
 
Kollandsrud’s work investigate the concepts of marks made by alternating spontaneity and reflection. One could call it controlled coincidence, a sort of poetics for her painting. Kollandsrud has no preconceived sketch of what she intends to achieve, nor does she have a picture in her mind which she works towards. Thus, the painting comes into being as she goes along; a result of a series of coincidences.
